*The Green Tokyo Fundraising Campaign is calling for donations toward projects to plant and grow greenery in Tokyo.
*Your contributions will be collected by the Green Tokyo Fundraising Campaign Committee and placed in the Tokyo Metropolitan Governmentfs Green Tokyo Fund to be used for four projects to increase greenery in Tokyo
*The fundraising target is 800 million yen in three years (up to FY 2010).
How Your Contributions Will Be Used
Donators can designate how their contributions will be used by selecting one of the four greening projects.
1) Creating Umi-no-Mori ( Sea Forest)
This project aims to transform a landfill site in Tokyo Bay into a lush, green forest.
2) Planting roadside trees
The number of roadside trees in Tokyo will be doubled from the current 480,000 to 1 million.
3) Planting lawns in schoolyards
Green schoolyards will provide an excellent study and play environment for happy and healthy children
4) Creating low-pollen forests
Trees that produce less pollen will be planted in forests in the Tama area of western Tokyo.
